SOUTH PARK LODGE NO. 563 was formed early in 1923 by brethren living in the southern section of Los Angeles who felt it advantages to form a new lodge. Presiding chairman David W. Bosserman held a series of preliminary meetings. After some discussion, it was decided to rent the local Knights of Pythias Hall until a permanent home could be located on South Park Ave in the general vicinity of 43rd Street. Thus the name "South Park" became the name of the Lodge [Wrigley built his new baseball stadium on this thoroughfare and it was renamed Avalon Blvd.].
By June it was ascertained that a sufficient number of brethren had indicated their desire to form a new lodge and was qualified to fill the various stations. On July 3, 1923, Samuel E. Burke, Past Grand Master and C.A.Yarnell, a Past Master of Southern California Lodge instituted the new Lodge with David Bosserman installed as Master, Taylor Chase as Senior Warden, and Joseph Adamson as Junior Warden. It was Constituted as South Park Lodge No. 563 on October 24, 1923.
During 1923, after being Instituted with 22 Charter members, twenty meetings were held wherein five men were raised and one Affiliated.
