PENTALPHA LODGE NO. 202 received its Dispensation on June 25, 1869, and, on October 14, 1869, started its career as a fully chartered lodge. They took their name from th Pentaipha of Pythagoras. The new lodge met at Los Angeles No. 42’s lodge room which was over the Furrey Store on North Spring. In 1878 they rented their own hall in the McDonald Block on Main Street. Several moves later, they moved into their jointly owned Temple at Pico and Figueroa. In 1959 the lodge moved into the Los Angeles Scottish Rite Temple on Wilshire Boulevard.The first brother Raised to the degree of Master Mason was Constant Meyer in January of 1870. The first Brother to Affiliate was Dr. Charles Bush who was the Worshipful Master in 1874 and, on his death in 1902, left part of his estate to provide funds for the Masons of Los Angeles, a fund which created the Masonic Service Bureau of Los Angeles.
